An Introductory Blog
Well hello! My name is Marielle and I am going to make a blog. This sounds a little strange to write out but I don’t see why not, and I think I will enjoy it so here we are!
Where do I even begin? Welcome, if you are reading this. I hope in this website to post some recipes, some articles of my food thoughts, some tips and tricks I’ve found, some positivity, really anything. The sky’s the limit. A public diary, if you will.
So here’s my latest food thought. I think it will come to no one’s surprise when I say I’ve recently gotten into sourdough. But I don’t know, I love it. My friend Marissa gave me some of her 5 year old starter a little bit ago and I’ve been making sourdough anything lately! Of course I started off with a classic loaf of bread. I remember I didn’t have a bread lame / scorer, however you call it, yet and so I tried using my family’s dull old knife. It did the job I guess but it certainly wasn’t an intentional design. The loaf turned our really pretty none the less!
Since then I’ve made crepes, which I turned into the most beautiful cake, other loaves of bread, croissants, muffins and pretzels! I think I might write a post about those as well.
Let’s see. My latest food trick would be… I don’t know. I kind of don’t like taking short cuts on food. Which isn’t because I don’t love a good hack, but more because cooking is what brings me joy. I feel the happiness grow in me when I knead by hand instead of using a mixer. Now cooking isn’t always about joy, of course ya gotta eat, you know? So I do use the stand mixer about half the time, whenever I mean business! So I guess my hack / trick is to use appliances? Do whatever makes you happy though and whatever makes sense for you. I do love appliances though and use them almost daily. I know I will not be frothing milk by hand when I need my cutie little cafe con leche in the morning and have to get to work soon.
Lastly before I wrap up this article, I want to mention other things that have made me happy! Being with people. It was recently my birthday and I invited my closest friends together and we ate and grilled and hung out and it was an amazing time. Music. I do know this is cheesy and corny and cliche but I have no shame about it. I romanticize my life! Every little moment. So when a beautiful song comes on, I think of myself dancing in the rain or twirling in the kitchen or laying in grass and there are birds around me. And since three is a good number, I’ll give one more happy aspect of my life. My dogs. Ohhhhhhh I love them. They are so beautiful and happy and loving and sweet. They smile and wag their tails and snuggle. Albeit, they bark way too much when another dog is being walked across the street but the love they share without ever saying a word is just. Well there’s no word for it.
And you, if you are reading this then you are making me happy because it is so cool to me to think that people might want to know about whatever it is that I’m writing about.
Much more to come!
Enjoy the rest of your day, Marielle.
